In the Due del Monte vineyards, we set the highest standards for eco-sustainable cultivation methods and environmentally friendly viticulture that excludes the use of artificial chemical fertilizers, pesticides, fungicides or herbicides.

Our Story

Two friends traveling among the suggestive hills of Friuli, in the north-east of Italy, were accidentally struck by a special place, hidden among the last hills that overlook the Adriatic Sea: Mount Quarin. Here the vine is cultivated since ancient times with exceptional results, thanks to the excellent exposure, the temperature range and the uniqueness of its soils.

Their passion for wine, in the early years, materialized in some projects that came to life thanks to the collaboration with some wineries in the area but the desire to found their own winery was very strong. So after a few years they decided to buy a cellar and some plots on Monte Quarin for a total of 8 hectares. From the beginning they decided to call the company Due del Monte due to the history that had accompanied the project. In 2018 a new staff was selected and a new reality began in Collio.

The cultivated varieties are: Friulano, Ribolla Giano, Malvasia Istriana, Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc.

Our white wines are obtained from classic Collio varieties, traditionally vinified and aged in barriques, which are crucial to obtain elegant, deep and persistent wines.

As far as red wines are concerned, we are mainly focused on Merlot, the only variety that guarantees perfect ripeness of its grapes every year.

The wines are persuasive on the palate, full-bodied, velvety, supported by a good acidity and a not very aggressive tannin that makes them very pleasant to drink both when young and after a long aging.

In the vineyard we prefer organic and sustainable viticulture, environmentally friendly which excludes the use of any chemical fertilizer, pesticide, fungicide or herbicide.



Growing up in a family of wine producers in the heart of the Slovenian Collio, after completing his studies in Food Science and specialising in Oenology, he gained various experiences working in Canada, Chile and Australia.

After his winemaking travels, he started working in the prestigious “Borgo del Tiglio” winery, mainly assisting in the making of wine for more than 10 years.

In 2018 he began to form a new team for Due del Monte, with the very clear objective: make great wines.


A graduate in Oenology and Viticulture, his passionate interest in learning about the different styles of winemaking and in a wide variety of terroirs. He has many work experiences in renowned wine-growing regions in the South and North of Spain and Italy.

Arriving in the heart of the Collio in 2013, he had the opportunity to gain experience with the largest producers in the area, taking advantage of their decades of knowledge. In one of these realities he had the pleasure of meeting Miran with whom he collaborates today for the same goal: to make great wines!


Diego is the company’s tractor acrobat. Born into a peasant family in the heart of the Collio, as a child he was attracted to agricultural machinery for which he still has a great passion.

No type of vineyard represents an obstacle for him!


After graduating in Foreign Languages and Literatures, she immediately worked in the tourism sector developing her exceptional skills in relating to the public. Maria, with her kindness and cordiality, is responsible for welcoming our customers.

She is entrusted with all of the administrative tasks of managing our business activities and needs.
